Radio 3: Breaking New Sound

March 25, 2010 - Christina Crook

Tired of Tchaikovsky? (I know, I know, as if that is possible.)

Consider CBC Radio 3, a radio station that consists of two parts devoted to Canadian arts and music: a radio service which is available on Sirius Satellite Radio and streaming audio, and several daily and weekly podcasts from CBCRadio3.com, the full-screen online magazine profiling Canadian music, literature and visual arts. The audio stream is available from both the service’s own website and from iTunes Radio. Operated by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, Radio 3 had its genesis in a late-1990s proposal to launch a radio network devoted to youth culture, comparable to BBC Radio One and Australia’s Triple J.

I’ve been a huge 3 fan since my Mother Corp days and wanted to ensure that the whole of Cardus knew about this Canadian gem.

So there it is: CBC Radio 3. Get into it.
