I know not everyone is as nutty about This American Life as I. My friends suffer through many conversations that begin, “That’s just like the This American Life episode where . . . ” or, “If you heard that episode of This American Life . . . “

But seriously. Any show that manages to cram sad stories, hilarity, poignancy, and the best explanations of the financial meltdown around into hour-long weekly shows/podcasts should have your vote, and mine. In the last couple weeks I’ve listened to shows about babysitting imaginary children, the sketchy hedge fund Magnetar, car manufacturing practices, and tapeworms (a piece which, incidentally, has come up in many conversations with friends since it aired). I can truly say that the show makes me a more interesting person.

But this is not about This American Life. It’s about This American Infographic, the brainchild of designer EJ Fox, who decided there ought to be an infographic for each episode of the show. And who can blame him? The site’s been around for a while, but Fast Company recently interviewed Fox about his concept and process (and threw in a few of the infographics, too, just for fun).
