Graphite, paper, wood, paint and resin

This piece is part of a series that responds to repentance, and subsequently, healing. Seeking forgiveness can be a difficult process, especially when reopening deep wounds from the past in hopes of purification and healing. I come to these in light of the pain that I cause, or have caused, whether in knowledge or in ignorance, when my willingness to love falls short of my purpose or ability. I seek healing for the divisions I have caused when my desire for reconciliation overcomes my pride, and often the relationships are built stronger.
The process can speak of this concept: These pieces are comprised of monotypes, rolled through a press (think printmaking), that have been torn or cut apart and then re-assembled to form new compositions from existing imagery. This intuitive method of working allows for unexpected results. Upon completion, each piece is then permanently sealed with resin, making the surface transparent and effectively smoothing the joined edges.
