Part of the inspiration for this painting, aside from the dramatic North sea and light-scapes in this part of the world, is the music of jazz musician David Friesen, who is based in Portland, Oregon. The painting is being considered as part of the jacket design for David's new album of hymns, entitled "Vanishing the Darkness," which is to be released end of this month.
