Week of October 5, 2008
The Work Research Foundation - publisher of Comment - is marking its new name, look and style with re-launch events coming up across North America. Catch us first in Ottawa, Ontario next Thursday, October 16!

Andy Crouch is giving away Culture Making Prizes in December, sponsored by InterVarsity. "Are you, or someone you know, thinking about a project that demonstrates the integration of faith, learning, and practice and that in some way shows 'how the academic disciplines and professions can contribute to human flourishing'? And are you, or someone involved with the project, actively affiliated with an institution of higher education or a 2008 graduate of one?" Send in a summary by October 15 (which is next Wednesday!) to qualify for a $2,000 prize.
The Manning Centre in Alberta is hosting what looks like a brilliant event, a Wilberforce Weekend. Preston Manning and Janet Epp Buckingham will speak on exerting influence in today's political arena, discussing and discovering how to assert Christian faith and values wisely and graciously. Takes place Oct 24-25 in Calgary, Alta. See the website for more details.
Comment notes with sadness the passing of Harry Der Nederlanden, longtime editor of the Christian Courier. Read Harry's poem, written in the last weeks of his life, listen to the message given by Bert Witvoet at his funeral, and read Harry's obituary here.
Happy birthday to Comment editor Gideon Strauss, tomorrow!Subscribe
