Charles Taylor

Charles Taylor is a Roman Catholic philosopher who is particularly admired for his work on Hegel, modernity, and secularism. Taylor's 2007 masterpiece, A Secular Age, was the focus of James K.A. Smith's recent book, How (Not) to Be Secular.

A professor emeritus at McGill University, he was made a Grand Officer of the National Order of Canada in 2000. He was awarded the Templeton Prize in 2007 and the Kyoto Prize for arts and philosophy in 2008.

Taylor, a native of Montreal, Quebec, lives there with his wife.
