Alan Jacobs is Distinguished Professor of the Humanities in the Honors Program at Baylor University. His most recent books are The Book of Common Prayer: A Biography and a critical edition of W. H. Auden's long poem For the Time Being: A Christmas Oratorio (both Princeton University Press, 2013). He has also published three collections of essays, and works of literary theory, biography, theology, and cultural history. After teaching at Wheaton College in Illinois for 29 years, he came to Baylor in 2013. His book How to Think: A Survival Guide for a World at Odds will be published by Convergent Books in October 2017 and his The Year of Our Lord 1943: Christian Intellectuals and Total War will be published by Oxford University Press in 2018.Bio last modified June 26th, 2017.
