Dr. Ashley Berner is an academic Fellow at the Institute for Advanced Studies in Culture at the University of Virginia, and serves as the Co-Director of the Institute's Program on Education, which explores modern American educational philosophy and practice.
She was educated at Davidson College (Honors A.B. in History) and the University of Oxford (M.Litt., D.Phil. in Modern History). Her areas of research include nineteenth century intellectual history and educational philosophy and comparative educational systems, and she has taught at a Jewish pre-school, an Episcopal secondary school and an open university in Louisiana.
