Julie Dallavis

Julie Dallavis is a doctoral candidate in the Department of Sociology and CREO. She completed her MA in Sociology at the University of Notre Dame in 2015. Prior to joining the Sociology department, Julie earned a Master’s degree in Education and a B.A. in the Program of Liberal Studies from the University of Notre Dame. Her professional experience includes teaching at the K-12 and college level, preparing academic publications, and working with undergraduate education minors. Julie is interested in the organization and culture of schools and the impact of choice policies on student, family, and community outcomes. Her dissertation uses mixed methods to better understand when and how mission matters in the organization and day-to-day operation of schools. She helps coordinate the Notre Dame Program for Interdisciplinary Educational Research (PIER) and is a research assistant for Dr. Mark Berends on a project that examines school choice in Indiana.
