Jonathan Wellum has a distinguished career in the financial industry, holding various positions including his present role as the CEO and CIO of RockLinc Investment Partners Inc. He was formerly the CEO and CIO of AIC Limited. He has twice been recognized as Fund Manager of the Year and in 1999, was recognized as one of the "top 40 under 40."

Mr. Wellum holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Master of Business Administration degree from McMaster University, and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Waterloo. He completed his formal education with a Master of Arts degree in Theology from Trinity Seminary. He also holds the designation of Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).

Jonathan Wellum will lead research projects focused on understanding the implications of current trends relating to the capital markets, their organization, and their cultural impact. Mr. Wellum brings to Cardus both a wide knowledge of the North American financial industry and an intentional commitment to putting markets in a wider, cultural context.

Says Wellum, "In our materialistic culture we view everything as a commodity to be priced and traded, including life itself. Tragically we have lost sight of the real wealth in a culture that can not be captured and manipulated by accounting methodologies since it is metaphysical in nature. It is the metaphysical component of wealth we have grossly undervalued and even sabotaged. But it remains true that our ability to create sustained wealth is directly tied to our ideas, creativity, innovations, faith in the future and most importantly our values. An economy not anchored in a strong and flourishing value system can not remain strong and prosperous."
