Rian Djita

Rian Djita is a PhD student in the Department of Education Reform at the University of Arkansas. A first-generation college student from Indonesia, he was a math teacher in Indonesia for six years before deciding to pursue his master’s degree at Vanderbilt University on a Fulbright Scholarship in international education policy and management. During his master’s degree at Vanderbilt, he completed an internship at the Tennessee Department of Education under the Research and Data team in the Teachers and Leaders division. His research interest in the equity of education for low-income students then brought him in the spring of 2020 to Columbia University to collaborate on research projects for the Networks for School Improvement, an initiative of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
