New National Award for Canadian Christian School Teachers

Regional award goes national to help highlight work of Christian schools coast to coast

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

March 5, 2020

HAMILTON, ON – A renewed and expanded teaching award is now open to all teachers across Canada who work in a Christian school. The Teacher Excellence Awards – originally known as the Rozema Awards and open only to teachers in Ontario – are now a national effort to recognize Christian schooling’s contribution to the common good in helping to form good citizens.

The Teacher Excellence Awards are a partnership among four organizations: The Christian School Foundation, Christian Schools Canada, EduDeo Ministries, and think tank Cardus. The award recognizes K-12 teachers at Christian schools who go above and beyond in nurturing student character, engaging the local community, and improving school culture.

Awards of $1,000 will go to one teacher in each of the following categories:

  • Kindergarten – Grade 4
  • Grade 5 – Grade 8
  • Grade 9 – Grade 12
  • Global Perspectives (teaching and learning practice that integrates what we can learn from and offer to communities in other nations.)
  • Lifetime Achievement (for nominees with at least 20 years of experience)

Nominating a teacher involves filling out a single, simple online form. We encourage parents, students, and faculty to speak to their school principal about nominating a teacher who deserves recognition as an example of excellence in Christian education.
