City Soul

Why are religious communities so vital to our cities?

City Soul considers that as important as faith institutions have been to the development and preservation of common pool resources, culture, and human flourishing, their role in contemporary societies is contested and often unclear. In many cases the basic descriptive aspects of their function are missing or assumed. Approaching the general question about the nature of social infrastructure in cities enables a wider view of the context and function of a wide range of formal and informal social structures and how and why they may or may not be changing.
