Linocut

I am a big fan of Sadao Watanabe‘s work, and was inspired this past Christmas to try and make a Last Supper image that would have a similar feel to his art. My homage to Watanabe did not succeed as I had hoped, but I still ended up with “Take and Eat.” Through the composition and the eyes of Jesus, I attempted to communicate to the viewer that they were as much a part of the Meal as were the Twelve. Beyond that, I enjoyed arranging the disciples to be as oblivious as possible to the gravity of the situation. My friend, collaborator, and fellow artist Matthew Clark helped me develop the image and pull this edition of linocut prints.
