In the midst of Canada’s 2025 federal election campaign, Rev. Dr. Andrew Bennett spoke with EWTN as part of a broader feature on Catholics’ role in Canada’s politics. Asked about the Parliamentary finance committee report recommending that churches lose charitable status, Rev. Dr. Bennett says, “There are a lot of pressures on religious freedom within the country and there are certain ideologies that are driving those actions on the part of government.” He also argues that Christians “need to be be much more attentive to [these issues] and find out more effective ways of engaging with government to ensure they don’t go down that road.” Watch the entire feature below.
