Deani Van Pelt

Deani Van Pelt, PhD, is a Cardus Senior Fellow, the President of Edvance Christian Schools Association, a Senior Fellow at the Fraser Institute, and a Visiting Research Fellow in Charlotte Mason Studies at the University of Cumbria, UK.

Deani holds undergraduate degrees in commerce (McMaster University) and education (University of Toronto), and a master’s and doctorate in education (Western University). An Ontario Certified Teacher, she has taught in both Christian and public secondary schools, homeschooled their children for over a decade, and was at Redeemer University for eight years during which she was Associate Professor of Education and Director of Teacher Education. For the last four years she has chaired the Ontario College of Teacher’s Standards and Education Committee and has recently served as an expert for UNESCO in their preparation of their first-ever report on homeschooling.
