Stained Glass Urbanism Launch: World Urban Forum

Terminal City Club

The World Urban Forum, hosted by the Canadian government, is the world’s most prominent forum for conversations on urban development, sustainability and renewal. In June 2006 the World Urban Forum was convened in Vancouver. At the event Cardus launched Stained Glass Urbanism, a long-term research project which will research faith communities and the significant contribution they make to renewal and sustainability of urban spaces.

Renewing American Culture: The Pursuit of Happiness

Suburban sprawl and single-use zones plague our cities in North America; however, a new movement called New Urbanism is trying to offer a viable alternative to the current model of urban planning and renewal. Eric Jacobsen invited attendees to explore the neglected role of religious institutions within this movement by arguing that without faith communities the New Urbanist movement is unsustainable.
