Description

Join us on August 15th for the third installment of the Cardus Summer Series. Our topic will be – “Family in Flux: Is Family Life out of reach for the Next Generation.”

For this conversation we will be joined by Andrea Mrozek, Peter Jon Mitchell, and Chris Bullivant, with Andreae Sennyah as moderator. Historically, the federal approach to family policy has been a mixed bag of initiatives ranging from tax credits to child care. Against this backdrop of uncoordinated policy-making, we see falling fertility rates, shrinking family sizes, and declining marriage rates. While there are complex explanations for these trends, we know that public policy has a role to play.

How do we balance the deeply personal decisions related to family with the public’s interest in stable and healthy families? Going beyond technocratic approaches, we hope this discussion is a helpful primer for robust debate on family policy in Canada.

This event will be hosted in person only but will be recorded and distributed after the event. Please email events@cardus.ca if you’d like to request the recording.
