Is justice the great irony in Canada’s public policy? Political pundits and columnists make their livelihoods on the front pages every day, underscoring the foibles, contradictions and drama of justice and politics in the public square. Throw in a mix of conflicting perspectives on the nature of justice, and there is more than enough fodder to confuse political voices on either end of the spectrum.

Eleanor Clitheroe has tested what we mean by justice deep in the system itself. As CEO of Prison Fellowship she lives this out on the front lines. As an academic and public policy advocate she challenges us to re-imagine what we mean by justice, bridging categories like retributive and restorative and giving new life to what is just in today’s public policy world.
