David Smith is a Senior Fellow at Cardus, and alongside his wife Lois Benham-Smith, leads Cardus’s Entrepreneurial NextGEN (ENG) Fellowship program.
David’s Hospitality business career has spanned five decades—from pot-washer in Muskoka resorts to President of one of Canada’s leading companies. David is known for his love of leading people and developing a winning culture. He deeply values life-long learning and education.
Now retired, David mentors and coaches CEOs and Presidents in his spare time in Canada. David currently serves as the Vice-Chair of the Tyndale University Board and is on the Tyndale Executive Committee. He also serves on the Board of Save the Mothers—a ministry dedicated to improving the maternal health outcomes for women in East Africa.
He is married to his wife Lois. They have three married children, two grandchildren and more coming. David and Lois are members of Community Church in Waterdown. David also serves on the Pastors Council at Community Church. His hobbies include a love for playing hockey and skiing at his “home away from home” resort in Fernie, British Columbia.
