Dr. Sephora Tang, MD, FRCPC, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Ottawa where she is Program Director of the Psychiatry Residency Training Program.

Dr. Sephora Tang completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at the University of New Brunswick before completing her Doctorate in Medicine and her postgraduate residency training in general psychiatry at the University of Ottawa. She works as an Outpatient Psychiatrist at the Ottawa Hospital where she also leads a Working with Emotions Group that teaches skills based on Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT).  As an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Ottawa, she has been engaged in medical education at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.  She is the Program Director of the Psychiatry Residency Training Program at the University of Ottawa after having served for three years as the Psychiatry Postgraduate Site Education Director at the Ottawa Hospital, General Campus.  Her clinical interests include combining psychopharmacology with the art of psychotherapy, and treatment approaches to complex trauma. Her clinical experiences have led her to become an advocate for access to quality medical and mental healthcare for vulnerable and marginalized people.  She has appeared as an expert witness before the Canadian Senate and Ontario Provincial Parliament on issues pertaining to the practice of medicine and psychiatry in Canada.  She currently serves as a Council Member of the Ontario Psychiatric Association, and has an appointment as a clinician investigator at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute (OHRI) in the Neuroscience Program.
