Joel was raised in the Hamilton area, attended the local Christian schools, and has been a member of local churches for his entire life, serving on church councils and various boards.

He enjoys making music, driving, quiet campsites, Jeet Kune Do, and every moment he spends with his wife and three daughters and dog Picardy.
