Prior to joining Cardus, Phil was self-employed as a multidisciplinary communications professional, supporting a wide range of Canadian organizations and individuals in addressing complex marketing and communications challenges.

Over the course of his career, Phil has taught, contributed to several publications, and co-authored Headliner, an introductory text for public relations professionals. His work is shaped by a commitment to thoughtful communication and a desire to serve others. Phil’s Christian faith underpins both his professional work and his community involvement, informing his approach to leadership, service, and lifelong learning.

Phil holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications from Athabasca University, and a Diploma in Radio Broadcasting from Algonquin College. In 2022–2023, he was named a NextGEN Fellow by Cardus. Phil lives in Ottawa with his wife, Catherine, and their three children.
