Description

Join us on September 14th for the final instalment of the Cardus Summer Series, co-sponsored by the Runnymede Society. Our topic will be Balancing Rights?: Equality Rights and Fundamental Freedoms in Canada.

For this conversation we will be joined by Runnymede National Director, Kristopher Kinsinger and Father Deacon Andrew Bennett, Cardus Program Director, Faith Communities. There is growing debate about the relationship between equality rights and fundamental freedoms in Canada. How are these principles treated in the legal scholarship and in popular discourse? Is there an irreconcilable tension between equality before the law and, say, freedom of religion? This primer is for lawyers and non-lawyers alike, to equip us with some essentials to better engage in discussion around these issues.
